Class description:
The purpose of this course is to apply perspective in the creation of environments, costumes, and structures as are used in entertainment design or for illustration design. This class is a
study of historic, modern and future costume, objects and structures. The class creates original designs using the structural limits of the period studied. The projects consist of drawings, using limited tone, from Ancient, pre-history, Medieval and Renaissance, Asian, Native American, African, Modern and Future.

Great news!!! Glen Orbik and Laurel is teaching a new class at 3Kicks, "From Gouache Head Painting to Picture Making".

Description
From conception to finish, a comprehensive class. Gouache, used opaquely for finished illustration, is also an excellent training tool for oil and other mediums (even digital).

Beginning with a strong emphasis on the Head, instructors will also demonstrate & guide the students through the step by step procedures of Picture Making. The process will include the use of Photography (lighting & directing models), Composition, Thumbnails, and Color Roughs to craft better Story-Telling , all the way though to the finished portfolio piece. This fundamental procedure is applicable to both illustration & gallery work.

Students will work from photographs. For the beginning to advanced painter, previous tonal Head Drawing highly recommended. Instructor approval.

3Kicks Studio is please to announce that Mark McDonnell will be teaching a new class st 3Kicks this Summer. The new class he will be teaching is Figure invention and gesture drawing for animation. It is a great class for students who want to be able to invent any figures out of their heads and able to get the gesture down with nice rhythm and flow.
Mark McDonnell is a top designer that has worked in a wide variety of skill sets such as character design, layout design, look development, graphic design, and as an instructor. He is currently instructing at The Walt Disney Company on the subject of gesture drawing. He has worked for a wide range of studios that include: Walt Disney Feature, Disney Toon Studios, Walt Disney Television Animation, Pixar, Miramax, Fox, H.I.T. Entertainment, New Line, Mattel, Sony, Legendary Pictures, The Jim Henson Company, Big Idea Inc. and many more.

Steve Huston 2 day painting workshop

Dear friends and students,

My teacher Steve Huston who just recently won the gold medal prize "Best Painting in Show" for the 100th year California Art Club Annual Exhibition is coming to LA on 4/30 and 5/1 doing a two day figure painting workshop and one day figure drawing workshop. **FYI: The drawing workshop on 4/30 from 8:00pm-11:00pm at 3kicksstudio is almost full, only have a couple spots left.

Hi all,

Our spring term schedule is out!!! Please check out the new workshops we have for this term. We have Steve Huston doing a drawing workshop on April 30th. Tim Tien is doing 2 still life workshops at 3Kicks as well. The still life workshops will involve both indoor and outdoor painting. Gary Meyer is back doing a creative perspective class.
